Solver Engines

The Gurobi Solver Engine LP/QP/MIP is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive to solve very large-scale linear, quadratic, and mixed-integer programming problems with unprecedented speed.  Based on the latest version of the Solver from Gurobi Optimization, it extends the power of our Solver Platform products to handle linear and quadratic programming problems with up to millions of variables and constraints, with no fixed limits on problem size.  Problems with tens of thousands of variables and constraints often solve in just seconds.

The MOSEK Solver Engine is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive to solve large-scale linear, quadratic, quadratically constrained, and second order cone programming (SOCP) problems, and smooth convex nonlinear programming problems with excellent performance.  Based on the latest version of the Simplex and Interior Point Method Solvers from MOSEK ApS, it extends the power of our Solver Platform products to handle these challenging large-scale problems, with no fixed limits on problem size.

The Artelys Knitro Solver is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive to solve nonlinear optimization problems of virtually unlimited size. It is considered the leading implementation of new state-of-the-art interior point nonlinear methods, and it also includes state-of-the-art “active set” SLQP (Sequential Linear / Quadratic Programming) methods that perform very well on highly constrained problems with fewer degrees of freedom. Its advanced methods for MINLP (mixed-integer nonlinear) problems will often outperform those in other Solver Engines for nonlinear problems.

The Large-Scale SQP Solver is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive.  Based on a world-class implementation of the Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) method, it is Frontline's most versatile Solver Engine, solving linear, integer, quadratic, conic, smooth nonlinear, and even non-smooth optimization problems far larger than the standard Excel Solver, or even Analytic Solver Platform alone -- with no fixed limits on variables and constraints.  It solves non-smooth problems using an integrated hybrid Evolutionary Solver, and it solves global optimization problems using either the Evolutionary Solver or multistart methods.

The Large-Scale GRG Solver Extended is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive to solve smooth nonlinear optimization problems up to 12,000 variables and 12,000 constraints. It solves global optimization problems using the "multistart" or "clustering" methods available in the Solver Platform products.  And it supports integer variables and "alldifferent" constraints in both Platforms.

The XPRESS Solver Engine LP/QP/MIP is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive to solve very large-scale linear, quadratic, and mixed-integer programming problems with unprecedented speed.  Based on the latest version of XPRESS-MP from Dash Optimization (now a subsidiary of FICO Inc.), it extends the power of our Solver Platform products to handle linear programming problems with up to millions of variables and constraints, with no fixed limits on problem size.  Problems with tens of thousands of variables and constraints often solve in just seconds.

The Large-Scale LP/QP Solver Engine Standard is a plug-in Solver Engine that extends Analytic Solver Optimization or Comprehensive, or Solver SDK Platform or Comprehensive to solve large-scale linear programming, quadratic programming, and mixed-integer programming problems with excellent performance.  It extends the power of our Solver Platform products to handle these challenging large-scale problems, with limits of 32,000 variables and 32,000 constraints.
