The Easiest to Use and Most Powerful Versions of Frontline Solvers Ever

As an existing customer, you already know that we’ve consistently enhanced the capacity, speed and range of problems Frontline Solvers can handle, helping you get better solutions, more quickly, at prices equal or less than competing alternatives. For V11.0 we’ve continued that tradition but have focused most on helping you, from requests we’ve received and our own usability testing, get the most from our solver more easily than ever before. Read on to see the many enhancements we’ve made for you in V11.0.

Product Enhancements

1. Risk Solver Platform. For V11.0 we focused on increasing overall ease of use and the ability to solve larger versions of the hardest problem types.

  1. Improved Input and Output dialogs — Redesigned to provide easier access to the information you use most, such as being able to view the chart and the related statistics at the same time and improved setting and display of lower and upper cutoffs on charts.
  2. Upgraded GRG engine — The GRG engine has been replaced by the Large Scale GRG for faster and more accurate solutions on larger problems.
  3. Increased problem size limits — Increased nonlinear and non-smooth variable and constraint limits from 500 x 250 to 1,000 x 1,000
  4. Expanded context sensitive help — Now you can access in-product context sensitive help in many more places so you can more quickly and easily build your models in less time.

In addition, we’ve made dozens of smaller changes to make it even easier for you to use the program such as making it easier to edit information in the task pane, switching between products if you have more than one product installed, etc. You can learn more on our Risk Solver Platform product page.

2. Premium Solver Platform. For V11.0 we focused on increasing overall ease of use and the ability to solve larger versions of the hardest problem types.

  1. Upgraded GRG engine — The GRG engine has been replaced by the Large Scale GRG for faster and more accurate solutions on larger problems.
  2. Increased problem size limits — Increased nonlinear and non-smooth variable and constraint limits from 500 x 250 to 1,000 x 1,000

3. Risk Solver Pro (formerly Risk Solver). For V11.0 we’ve added the ability to solve simulation optimization problems as well to help you make the best decisions under uncertainty. As a result of this change we have renamed Risk Solver to Risk Solver Pro.

  1. Now includes our Evolutionary engine — Now you can solve Simulation Optimization problems with the integrated Evolutionary engine.
  2. Improved Input and Output dialogs — Redesigned to provide easier access to the information you use most, such as being able to view the chart and the related statistics at the same time and improved setting and display of lower and upper cutoffs on charts.
  3. Expanded context sensitive help — Now you can access in-product context sensitive help in many more places so you can more quickly and easily build your models in less time.

You can learn more about simulation-optimization and the benefits it can provide here. You can learn more about Risk Solver Pro on our Risk Solver Pro product page.

4. Premium Solver Pro (formerly Premium Solver). For V11.0 we’ve added additional guidance to help you understand and refine your model and choose the best engine to solve it, along with enhancing its ability to solve even larger problems.

  1. Automatic model diagnosis — analyzes model type and recommends best engine to solve it
  2. Guided Mode — It’s like having an expert at your side when you run an optimization. Guided Mode helps you understand your model, diagnose certain kinds of errors, learn how you might be able to improve your model, and how to think about the answers found.
  3. Automatic Engine Selection —Takes what is learned by Automatic Model Diagnosis and automatically selects the right Solver engine to get you the best answer in the least amount of time.

You can learn more on our Premium Solver Pro product page.

5. Solver SDK Platform. For V11.0 we made a range of performance enhancements and completely updated the user manual.

  1. Enhanced distribution fitting — Now equal to that available in Risk Solver Platform.
  2. Faster file importing — Significantly faster reading of LP and MPS file formats.
  3. Completely revised user manual — Enhanced end-to-end including step by step instructions and sample code in multiple languages.

In addition, previously we only had one SDK product, Solver SDK Platform. With V11.0 we are introducing Solver SDK Pro. With a lower price point, it is designed to meet the needs of developers who don’t need to use plug-in solver engines, load Excel workbooks, or do simulation/simulation-optimization.
