Welcome Students

If you're enrolled in an appropriate course, you can download our free Premium Solver for Education -- a compatible upgrade from the standard Excel Solver, featured in many textbooks, with new features such as an Evolutionary Solver, based on genetic algorithms, as well as the GRG Solver for nonlinear problems and the Simplex Solver for linear programming problems.

To download the Setup program, just fill out the form below, and click the Download Now button. (It's OK if you've registered on this site previously with the same email address.)  Turn off pop-up blockers if necessary. You should see a dialog asking "Do you want to run or save this file?"  Click Save to save the file, and run it later by double-clicking the filename.  The Setup program will prompt for a password, which will be emailed to you.

To complete this form, you'll need a Textbook Code, found at the back of your textbook, and a Course Code, which you can get from your instructor.  If you can't find these, call us at 775-831-0300 and press 0 (9am - 5pm Pacific time GMT-7), or email us at academic@solver.com.  If you are an instructor and you want a free Course Code for your course -- plus free priority access to technical support while you're teaching -- or if you have the textbook but you're not enrolled in a course, call or email us as above -- we can help you.  This is easy, it just involves a brief explanation to a human being.

Say that you have Premium Solver for Education, and have your Course Code and Textbook Code available. If you have problems setting up or solving your model, or interpreting the results, please ask your instructor for assistance; Frontline Systems cannot help you with homework problems.

The Premium Solver for Education Setup program is included on CDs bound into more than two dozen different textbooks. But the trend with the latest textbooks -- such as Powell & Baker's Management Science: The Art of Modeling with Spreadsheets, Excel 2007 Update -- is to use the download version. This page is also the one place where you can download the very latest version of the software.  We have some exciting new developments coming, so make a note to visit this page again in 2008!

P.S.:  If you're using a Mac with Excel 2008, you may have learned that VBA -- and the standard Solver -- are missing!  We're sorry -- Premium Solver for Education is only available for Windows Excel right now.  But we have developed a new Solver for Mac Excel 2008 (with all features of the standard Excel Solver), that we're making available to everyone for free.  Visit www.solver.com/mac for the latest news about downloading this free Mac Solver.
