INCLINE VILLAGE, NEVADA – May 15, 2018 – Frontline Systems, developer of the Solver for optimization included in Microsoft Excel, has released RASON® Dedicated Server, a new product, and new versions of its Solver SDK® and Analytic Solver® products, with new releases of optimization “Solver Engines” including the Gurobi, FICO® Xpress, Artelys KNITRO®, and OptQuest® Solvers.

“RASON Dedicated Server helps meet the growing demand for RASON prescriptive solutions in secure, private and public mission-critical applications,” said Daniel Fylstra, Frontline’s President.

RASON® – RESTful Analytic Solver® Object Notation – is Frontline’s popular modeling language and REST API for prescriptive analytics, first launched as a cloud service in March 2015.  RASON models solve simulation/risk analysis and optimization problems of every type and size, from linear mixed-integer programming to nonlinear and global optimization, evolutionary and tabu search, and stochastic optimization – up to millions of decision variables and constraints.

For the past three years, Frontline’s RASON public cloud server (at Rason.net, developer portal at Rason.com) has supported a wide range of Frontline- and customer-designed applications, with over 360,000 users.  Now Frontline is releasing a RASON Dedicated Server that customers can operate and administer themselves, either on-premise or in their own private cloud accounts.

RASON Admin Tools Enable Server, User, Job Management

RASON Dedicated Server, easy to install via a Setup program, runs as a service on nearly any Windows Server or Windows 10 computer.  It comes with a “server admin” tool that runs on any Windows client PC, making it easy to manage multiple server and client machines, licenses for the RASON API, modeling system and optional Solver Engines, authorized users and security, job priorities and resource usage.  Administrators can display active client sessions and review logs of client sessions over time.

New Versions of Solver SDK and Analytic Solver for Excel

Frontline has also released Analytic Solver V2018.1, its “flagship” product for Microsoft Excel, and Solver SDK V2018.1, its Software Development Kit for developers using C++, C#, Java, R, Python and Matlab.  The new Analytic Solver release enhances support for creation of Power BI Custom Visuals and Tableau Dashboard Extensions from Excel analytic models.

Besides underlying platform enhancements, such as the latest version of RASON modeling tools, the V2018.1 releases feature new versions of several “branded” optimization solvers that Frontline licenses from other firms and integrates into its Excel, RASON and SDK products – including the Gurobi Solver 8.0, FICO Xpress Solver 32.1, Artelys Knitro Solver 11.0, and OptQuest Solver 7.0.

Free 15-day trials of Analytic Solver V2018.1, Solver SDK V2018.1, and the RASON® Dedicated Server are available on Frontline’s main website https://www.solver.com.
